After months of talking about our year-long family trip around the world, it is now becoming reality. There’s no going back now. Yesterday, we booked the first flights half-way around the globe. London to Abu Dhabi – confirmed. Abu Dhabi to Muscat – confirmed. Muscat to Colombo – confirmed. Colombo to Kuala Lumpur – confirmed. And Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu (Borneo) – confirmed. I can hardly believe that our names are on the passenger lists of those flights. But they are. And if you have some insider information about these destinations, please feel free to let us know. Apart from booking our flights, putting our house on the market has become reality as well. We are not selling. No, no, no… We (well ‘I’) couldn’t do that. And we want to come back home after a year. But after long discussions with a lot of pros and contras being mentioned, we decided to rent the house out – furnished – for a year. We really hope that we will find a tenant who appreciates and loves our home as much as we do.
I still can’t fully believe that we are doing this. That we are following our dream. But yes, it’s happening. And even though the foresight of our big adventure is pretty scary and makes us rather nervous, we would not change it for the world.
